Jesper Mardahl – Managing Director, Promus, and conference organizer, SPOT+
With over 39 years as a professional in the Danish music industry, Jesper Mardahl has been around most corners of the music scene.
Initially quite literally as a musician, but since then most “behind the scenes” in the role of A&R manager, producer, label manager, and promotion and marketing manager at many of the leading music companies in Denmark, including big local labels such as Genlyd Grammofon, Medley Records and Sonet Dansk Grammofon, but also working for major labels such as BMG Ariola and EMI Music.
Later as project manager at the country’s largest music magazine, GAFFA, co-developer of the Music Management program at the Royal Academy of Music, lecturer, censor, panellist and speaker at international industry festivals such as SXSW, Eurosonic, By:Larm, Canadian Music Week, Reeperbahn Festival, Vill Vill Vest, The Great Escape and SPOT +, – and now as the managing director of the country’s only networking platform for the professional music community, Promus. Furthermore, Jesper has been the initiator of Music City Aarhus and co-founder of the international, Music Cities Network.
Since 2015, Jesper has also been in charge of SPOT+ as conference organizer. SPOT + is the conference branch of the SPOT Festival.
From 2021 – 2022, Jesper was appointed chief secretary for the Music City Aarhus 2022-project – a year-round project celebrating music in all its forms kickstarting the music post-Covid 19.
